My inspiration for creating this came from Antique Farmhouse.
Notice the frame with the mirror. This is key in making this. I have a huge framed mirror that I plan on using.
- Now I'll determine the width and height of how large I want the pieces of wood that sits on the top and bottom.
- Then I'll trace the shape of my moulding onto the two wood pieces. When doing this, the moulding that you chose might not go from side to side, so you'll need to extend the lines so it does.
- Next you'll want to cut the wood piece like shown below.
Sorry about the poor quality of this picture, but it shows you what to cut out.
- Remove the moulding and now you can paint the pieces of wood and mouldings.
- So much fun! For a real French vibe, go over details with gold wax. You can even try dark wax all over the piece.
- Now you can attach the pieces to your mirror using a heavy duty glue.
