Crafting Sunflowers from Pinecones
The first step to making a sunflower centerpiece is to craft several sunflowers from foraged pinecones. You can use a variety of pinecone sizes to make this craft. Cut the pinecones into two or three pieces and paint them to resemble sunflowers.
Additional Supplies for A Sunflower Centerpiece
After you have several pinecone flowers assembled, it’s time to gather the remaining supplies.
First, determine the length of your centerpiece and look for a piece of reclaimed or new wood for the base. You may need to cut the board to the correct size with a miter saw.
How To Assemble Sunflower Centerpiece
First add the self-adhesive felt pads to the bottom of the wood board at each corner. This will help protect the table from scratches and allow the centerpiece to slide across the table easily.
How To Add Small Clay Pots for Candleholders
To ensure a strong hold, begin with E6000 glue around the bottom edge of the pots and follow that with a bead of hot glue. The hot glue will allow the pots to adhere quickly, speeding up the assembly. Hold the pot in position until the hot glue is dry.
Add Pinecone Flowers To The Reclaimed Shiplap
Work around each clay pot until the entire board is filled with sunflowers made from pinecones.
Begin by adding candles to the clay pots. You can use real candles like these or, if you prefer, battery-operated taper candles.
The taupe root candles work great in the clay pots.
Leftover pinecone flowers enhance the amber dessert cups at each place setting. The dessert cups rest on vintage fall dishes.
